FAQ`s

How  long  does it take to whiten by teeth?

It takes just 1 hour to achieve a white smile.

How long will the whitening last? Will I have to whiten my teeth again?

Normally the new whiter colour of your teeth lasts well. However, the effect is dependent on what has caused the teeth to discolour in the first place. If you drink lots of coffee, red wine or cola drinks, the effect may darken slightly over time.  Some patients do a top-up treatment after 1-5 years; some patients do not need to.

How white?

It is typical for teeth to become up to 10 shades whiter following the procedure, with additional whitening taking place over the next 24 hours.

What are the side effects?

Some people may find that their teeth become sensitive to cold during or after the treatment. Others report minor discomfort in the gums, or white patches on the gum line. These symptoms are usually temporary and should disappear within a day or two of the treatment finishing.

Is it safe?

Vast amounts of research have been carried out into the safety of teeth whitening and this is a continuing process.

To date studies have shown that there is no damage to the structure of the tooth other than some increased porosity for up to 48 hours after whitening.

The whitening process has been approved by the American FDA (Food and Drug Administration); one of the toughest licensing bodies in the world and has a full license throughout the rest of Europe

Will the whitening have any effect on existing crowns/veneers/bonds?

Generally speaking it is impossible to change the colour of the caps, veneers or bonds with any tooth whitening treatment. However, the treatment can restore them to their original colour.

How does the whitening process work?

The Laser light accelerates the process by forcing more oxygen into the dentine than would be the case otherwise. Results can be dramatic and clients may see up to 15 shades difference

Do I need to do anything before my appointment?

It is advisable that you have had a scale and polish.  We request that you have had a dental examination by a dentist within the last 6 months and that all dental work is up to date.
